Very much loved.

Dad? Totally smitten with his precious son. Mom? a natural. so natural I was intrigued… well, she’s a baby nurse!

“Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.”

I read the above quote on a friend’s facebook page right after coming back from this session last week. So fitting. That’s exactly what I witnessed on that day.

These three adorable kiddos sure will have amazing memories from their childhood. I had a sense of that right after their mom booked our session, back in February. I always tell my clients I’ll bring a few cute hats, etc to our session, and to my absolute delight she replied what she really wanted was to capture her kids “the way we see them on a daily basis”… nothing too posed. natural, casual portraits. she wanted me to capture them. their childhood. So I went to our session with my camera, lenses and my heart only. and it was one of the best sessions ever. I truly had a blast. A fairy-tale like, whimsical photo session… the children doing their thing and me? playing with them! Mom never once said “look at the camera”, “smile”, “don’t do that face”… she just let them be. and play. like they do everyday. in their wonder garden, their enchanted backyard. there’s even fairies living there (didn’t you notice the fairy door on the tree?)

This, my lovely friends, is childhood at its finest. playing and having fun is serious business in this family… as it should be.

I was driving back home smiling from ear to ear and eager to get to my computer and download the stunning, real life images we captured on that magic afternoon. This is just a teeny tiny little sample of what we got. The best images are yet to come!

Thank you mom and dad for the wonderful afternoon with your beautiful, charmingly clever, oh-so-adorable kids. I cannot wait to have a playdate photograph them again in the fall.

Ohhh this whole session was incredible!!!! I love working with FUN parents (to be) who are SO excited for the joy that is about to enter their lives! And I am SO grateful to be able to do what I love most… documenting beautiful memories for my clients and having so much fun along the way!

I told them right at our session and I’ll say it again here… I don’t recall having so much fun during a photoshoot! I mean, how often do I get a dad to literally jump with excitement (see photo below, all HIS idea!) and ask me “what can we try next?”… and mom was such a good sport, she even changed in the car, not even minding the neighbors around!! I can’t get over how gorgeous she is. They are. I had a blast with these two!

Also, dad is a bridge engineer so of course we HAD to have Lions Gate as a backdrop. Such a *fantastic* maternity session at Stanley Park & Kitsilano with this young, madly in love couple… any doubt their baby is going to be truly stunning and very, very much loved?

Can’t wait to meet their little one in a few weeks time. In the meantime I may come back with more images from our mat sesh, we got SO MANY great ones (the ones with the mermaid and the pink trees are out-of-this-world gorgeous, with dad actually CLIMBING the tree! ha!) check back soon!
