I always get the question “so how big should I go with my images?” Bigger is always better — it makes more of an impact.

For smaller prints, I usually suggest a gallery display, a grouping of images (for instance, four 16×20 or eight  8×10 art prints grouped together).

Last time I saw her she was a 6-day old tiny bundle of joy and beauty, when I photographed her as a newborn (by the way, one of the most amazing newborn sessions to date!)… and now, look at her! She blossomed into this energetic, vibrant, utterly gorgeous and deliciously chubby baby girl!

I always feel so honoured when parents choose me to document such a fleeting time in their child(ren) lives — the first few days. So when they come back to me for another session it’s extra special. It amazes me how much my little clients can change in their first year… such a blessing to watch them grow! I was *so excited* to photograph this dolly again… yes, she is a doll! A cabbage patch doll. Check for yourself those gorgeous blue eyes, beyou-tiful hair and perfect lips. Have I mentioned her beautiful hair and stunning baby blues?Mom put a lot of time and thinking into planning the outfits for our session, we’ve carefully selected what to wear, and I love the results! She wanted just the perfect picture for this dolly’s birthday invitations… ’cause she is turning…She’s got the beautiful shape of her eyes from her gorgeous momma… but she also looks *a lot* like her daddy.  Actually, the resemblance to both her parents is pretty amazing. I’d say a perfect mix of both. I finish this blog entry with one of my very fave (of maaany favorites) from yesterday’s session. It was such a pleasure to photograph her again!

“Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.”

I read the above quote on a friend’s facebook page right after coming back from this session last week. So fitting. That’s exactly what I witnessed on that day.

These three adorable kiddos sure will have amazing memories from their childhood. I had a sense of that right after their mom booked our session, back in February. I always tell my clients I’ll bring a few cute hats, etc to our session, and to my absolute delight she replied what she really wanted was to capture her kids “the way we see them on a daily basis”… nothing too posed. natural, casual portraits. she wanted me to capture them. their childhood. So I went to our session with my camera, lenses and my heart only. and it was one of the best sessions ever. I truly had a blast. A fairy-tale like, whimsical photo session… the children doing their thing and me? playing with them! Mom never once said “look at the camera”, “smile”, “don’t do that face”… she just let them be. and play. like they do everyday. in their wonder garden, their enchanted backyard. there’s even fairies living there (didn’t you notice the fairy door on the tree?)

This, my lovely friends, is childhood at its finest. playing and having fun is serious business in this family… as it should be.

I was driving back home smiling from ear to ear and eager to get to my computer and download the stunning, real life images we captured on that magic afternoon. This is just a teeny tiny little sample of what we got. The best images are yet to come!

Thank you mom and dad for the wonderful afternoon with your beautiful, charmingly clever, oh-so-adorable kids. I cannot wait to have a playdate photograph them again in the fall.

It’s always a pleasure to photograph him… and man did we have fun! LOVE Spring sessions! LOVE active, smiley little boys! and I puffy heart LOVE this location!!
